MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Dear Viewers,

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad is one of the oldest boards in Sindh and it has now entered the twenty-first century which demands promotion of critical thinking skills, creativity, problem-solving skills and information technology literacy. Since its establishment the Board has maintained its transparency and fairness to a great extent in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and other examinations but due to number of factors its credibility has been badly affected which needs to be revived soon. While there are challenges ahead of the Board there are also a number of opportunities for the Board which need to be availed for revival of its credibility.

The Board's high priority is to bring about transformative improvement in the conduct of examination through internal and external quality assurance mechanisms and standardoperating procedures (SOPs). The Board has planned to integrate technology with examination and assessment supported by its research and documentation. In order to accomplish the goal the Board has taken a number of initiatives to improve conduct of examination which will help in raising standard of education at secondary and higher secondary level. The Board has also started collaborating with schools and colleges through their Principals and Directors for improving teaching and learning process. The Board has also begun assessing staffs professional development needs for offering capacity building programmes to enhance their performance. The Board is in the process of developing a plan for overhauling of the existing building, sports stadium and carrying out new construction of multi-purpose hall, record rooms, offices etc. The Boards' alumni and stakeholders are requested to extend their maximum support for transforming the existing Board as a 'Centre of Excellence' in examination integrated with technology and informed by research. Although it seems to be a tall order task I believe we can collectively achieve it. Let's turnaround it as one of the best Boards in the region!
